More than 2,00,000 children are born with congenital heart defects (CHD) every year in India. The cost of congenital heart defect treatment often ranges between $2,131 USD and $4,264 USD, which becomes out of reach for families earning less than $213 USD a month. In this article, we will read how CSR support for NGOs in India is helping to bridge this gap.

Importance of CSR Partnerships with NGOs

CSR partnerships with NGOs are important because:

  1. The CSR-NGO partnerships create meaningful social impact, through the combined expertise of both the parties.
  2. CSR partnerships bring financial resources, technology, and management expertise, while NGOs contribute grassroots knowledge, community trust, and implementation experience.
  3. Such partnerships then benefit both- the companies and the NGOs.
  4. Company’s CSR efforts get strengthened and at the same time, NGOs gain access to funding to scale their initiatives and reach more beneficiaries.

CSR Support for Non-Profit Organisations like Genesis Foundation

Support received from corporate partnerships help Genesis Foundation to raise money for child surgery and support as many children diagnosed with congenital heart defects (CHDs) who come from families with low-income. Besides, the donations help us in getting the necessary funds to undertake activities such as screening camps that aim at building awareness and timely intervention of the disease. In addition, the CSR support also helps to cover many overheads costs that organisations need to function effectively.

CSR for Child Health at Genesis Foundation

Genesis Foundation is compliant with the new CSR Form-1 vide registration no CSR00001713 and meet all criteria laid out under Section 135 of Companies Act 2013. This makes us eligible as an implementation partner for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). We have a range of CSR partners onboard, like- Optum India, Kajaria Ceramics, ACRE, GE Healthcare, HDFC Ergo, George Clinical and SBI Life.

Genesis Foundation turns 25 this year, and for these 25 years, the foundation has been able to support the congenital heart defect treatment of more than 5,400 critically ill children with the help of our CSR partnerships.

How can Companies Support CSR for Child Health at Genesis Foundation?

The corporate donors can support Genesis Foundation in multiple ways and can contribute to their mission

  1. They can either make corporate charity donationsas a part of their CSR initiative. These contributions help the foundation to cover the congenital heart defect treatments of underprivileged children diagnosed with critical heart defects. We show clear, measurable outcomes and explain the impact of donations through the proposal which are tailor-made to each corporation. We aim at building strong relationships with companies by offering them branding opportunities and providing regular updates of the child that has been supported. We also ensure we have a team dedicated to catering to all the requirements of the corporation and ensuring smooth implementation of funds.
  2. Companies can engage in our monthly employee giving programs like the Power of 100+. Power of 100+is a payroll giving initiative, through which employees of a company voluntarily contribute INR 100 (or more) from their monthly salary to the Foundation. This helps in building a sustained flow of funds as a community for saving critically ill children. When 100 or more individuals even contribute Rs.100, it helps generate a significant amount that helps us support congenital heart defect treatments.
  3. You can also support our charity concert in Kasauli,- Kasauli Rhythm and Blues Festival (KRBF). The Kasauli Rhythm and Blues Festival 2026 took place on the 3rd and 4th April 2026. The festival proved that when people get together for a cause, they provide lifesaving care to children who are in need. Through this year’s funds raised at the festival, we will be able to support the congenital heart defect treatment of 11-14 children.
