Supporting Children Heart Foundations India from Abroad
September 26, 2025 | Contributed by Aarohi Arora

In India, pediatric cardiac care is at a juxtaposition. On one side we have growing awareness, the inception of many children heart foundations, stellar research facilities, and spectacular hospitals providing world-class treatment, by renowned doctors and staff. On the other hand, the financial burdens of the surgery leave families helpless.
More than 200,000 children are diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) in India, every year. This is considering a birth prevalence of 9/1000 and about one-fifth of them will need early intervention in their first year. Where one cardiac center caters to a population of 120,000 in North America, 16 million population is served by one center in Asia (Lower-Middle Income). The average cost of the surgery is 2500 USD – 5000 USD. However, this doesn’t account for the post-operative costs, medicines, travel and other logistical costs.
The world is moving toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. India carries a disproportionate burden of CHD, not because the solutions are unknown, but because resources remain limited and unevenly distributed. NGOs like Genesis Foundation are mission-driven organizations but they often lack the funds and partnerships necessary to scale life-saving work. This is where global corporate stakeholders can make a transformative difference, not as donors alone, but as allies in a shared responsibility to ensure every child, regardless of geography or income, has a fighting chance at life.
Why Should You Choose Genesis Foundation?
Genesis Foundation is a children heart foundation in India which provides financial assistance to all children diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (CHD) under the age of 18, with family monthly income under 230 USD (Rs.20,000). Over the last 24 years, we have supported over 5,000 children.
- Our Story- Prema and Jyoti Sagar lost their second-born child Sameer, to a Congenital Heart Defect, within 16 hours of his birth. They began working at Missionaries of Charity, which gave a whole new meaning to their life. They met two children – Sheela and Ravi at Missionaries of Charity, who further changed their lives and inspired them to start a children’s heart foundation in India.
- Hospitals- We work directly and closely with the families, guardians, and doctors to provide not only timely, but also the best available treatment. Our partnerships include the best hospitals, doctors, and support staff in India, strengthening our mission as a trusted child heart foundation.
- CSR- We partner with individuals, corporates, and communities who believe in creating real change. From CSR donations and payroll giving to events and awareness drives, every effort fuels a child’s chance at timely treatment.
- Screening Camps- Children are scanned at these camps and those detected with heart issues undergo more detailed medical investigation and finally those identified with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) and meeting our following support criteria are offered assistance for surgical intervention
- Fundraisers- We are one of the pioneer non-profit organizations to raise money through uniquely participative fundraising events such as, CEOs Sing for GF Kids, CEOs Got Talent, and our flagship music festival ,Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival.

You can donate securely through the “Rest of the World” section on our website’s donation page. This allows for FCRA-compliant bank transfers.
