One Promise, Many Heartbeats: 25 Years of Giving Life a Chance

The genesis of Genesis Foundation lies in a deeply personal story of loss, healing, and hope. A journey that ultimately transformed into a mission to save little hearts.
25 years ago, a deeply personal loss became the beginning of a mission that would go on to touch thousands of lives.

The story of Genesis Foundation began long before the organization itself was formally established. In 1983, founder trustees, Prema and Jyoti Sagar experienced the devastating loss of their newborn son, Sameer, who was born with a congenital heart defect and passed away within 16 hours of birth. At a time when awareness, diagnosis, and treatment options for congenital heart defects (CHDs) in India were extremely limited, the loss left the family searching for meaning and healing.
As part of that healing journey, they began volunteering with the Missionaries of Charity in Delhi, where they encountered children battling critical medical conditions. These experiences opened their eyes to the transformative power of timely medical care and planted the seed of an idea: that every child, regardless of circumstance, deserves a chance at life.
What began as an act of service gradually evolved into a long-term mission. In 2001, the vision formally took shape with the establishment of Genesis Foundation. Over the years, the organization evolved from supporting children with multiple critical illnesses to becoming a focused, specialized organization dedicated exclusively to congenital heart defects (CHDs) in underprivileged children. Alongside treatment support, the foundation has continued to advocate for awareness, early diagnosis, and timely pediatric cardiac care, helping transform not just individual lives, but entire families and communities.
5,400+ Little Hearts Supported, and Counting

As Genesis Foundation, one of the best NGOs in Haryana, completes 25 years, the impact of this journey can be measured not just in numbers, but in smiles, second chances, and futures restored.
Over the years, the foundation has supported more than 5,400 children suffering from congenital heart defects (CHD) across India. Behind every child is a family that found hope during one of the most difficult moments of their lives. For many parents, access to life-saving pediatric cardiac care often feels impossible due to financial limitations. Genesis Foundation has worked tirelessly to bridge that gap, connecting children to timely treatment through their partner hospitals and giving them the opportunity to live healthy, fuller lives.
Celebrating 25 Years of Genesis Foundation through Film
To mark this special milestone, Genesis Foundation, the best NGO in Gurugram, also created a commemorative film that captures the heart of the organization’s work and journey over the years.
The film offers a closer look at how the foundation functions, from identifying children in need and supporting treatment journeys to maintaining strong processes built on transparency, diligence, and accountability. More importantly, it reflects the human stories behind the work: the children, families, doctors, supporters and the team who together make every successful treatment possible.

A Decade of Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival (KRBF)

This year was also especially significant as it marked the 10th edition of the Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival, one of the top music festivals In India. This festival is the flagship fundraising event of Genesis Foundation that aims to raise funds and awareness towards congenital heart defects treatment.
Over the years, the festival has grown into much more than a music event. It has become a community of supporters united by a shared purpose: saving little hearts with congenital heart defects (CHD).
This year’s edition was especially meaningful, as the funds raised will support nearly 10-14 heart surgeries for children in need. The 10th edition of one of the best charity music festivals in India, was not just a celebration of music, but also of hope, resilience, and the power of collective impact.

Looking Ahead: The Next 25 Years

As we celebrate this milestone, we also pause to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey, our donors, partners, hospitals, volunteers, supporters, and well-wishers.
Every contribution, every conversation, every act of support has helped save a child’s life.
The journey, however, is far from over. Thousands of children in India are still born every year with congenital heart defects and continue to lack access to timely treatment. The next 25 years will require even greater awareness, stronger partnerships, and continued support to ensure that no child is denied a chance at life because of financial constraints.
