This World Heart Day as we tried to bring awareness about Congenital Heart Defects and the heart health of hundreds of children that are born with it in India, we also want you to give a little thought to your own heart. Do you really take care of your heart that works day-in and day-out non-stop?
While you can soothe heart-break with good music and company, the same is not true fora heart affected by cardio vascular diseases because you need to actually take care of a lot of things. Starting from eating healthy to making sure you’re exercising properly.
Here is a list of foods that can actually boost your heart’s health:
Dark Chocolate
Chocolates are natural mood boosters and are very desirable food items due to its taste. But they are beneficial to the heart as well. It contains antioxidants like flavonoids and they help in keeping the heart-healthy.
Berries
Berries are the best when you need a quick snack before or after a meal. They are a sweet treat that just hit your taste buds with sweet, tangy, and all different kinds of flavor. They are rich in antioxidants like anthocyanins and prevent oxidation and inflammation which in turn makes their heart.
Whole Grains
Whole grains such as oats, brown rice or more can very well take care of your heart. They contain fibre in good quantities which is responsible for controlling blood pressure and fighting LDL cholesterol.
Leafy Vegetables
As kids as much as we hate eating leafy greens, there’s a reason why parents are trying hard to inculcate a different habit.They are full of carotenoids, antioxidants, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Which are responsible for improving the complete health system, not just for the heart but for the whole body.
Avocado
While going for fruit shopping people look for avocados due to its taste and added benefits. One more reason to have it in your basket is that it has monosaturated fats which are beneficial for your heart. They are also potassium-rich and help in controlling cholesterol as well.
Nuts
Nuts are recommended for everyone whether or not you’re a person who needs care for your heart. But it has added benefits in case someone is dealing with heart problems.They are rich in rich in fibre, vitamin E, and alpha-linolenic acid. Which helps in controlling cholesterol and improves circulations.
Olive Oil
It is recommended by food experts to cook food in olive oil rather than vegetable oil or soybean etc. The reason being that olive oil is loaded with antioxidants and monosaturated fats. Olive oil is healthier for your heart.
Fatty Fish
They are full of omega-3 fatty acids which are considered very good for heart health. You can either consume a whole fish or use fish oils to obtains these benefits for the sake of your heart.
The Covid-19 pandemic has given people all the more reason to take care of their health and eat foods that help in enhancing immunity. Let’s all pledge to take care of our hearts by making healthier food choices!
