A Story of Courage and Resilience: Meeting Tarini (Name Changed) at Fortis

March 29, 2025 | Contributed by Yukti Goel

Today was a day filled with warmth, hope and resilience. We were fortunate enough to volunteer with the Genesis Foundation, an NGO working for congenital heart disease. We got the opportunity of visiting Fortis Hospital and meeting with a strong spirited 13-year-old Tarini (name changed), who was no less than an inspiration for many out there.

Tarini, with the unwavering support of her mother recently underwent critical heart surgery, an unnerving procedure for anyone, let alone a young teenager like her. The crucial intervention of the Genesis Foundation, NGO for child heart surgery, helped the family to face this challenge head-on by providing both financial and emotional support throughout this difficult journey.

Our hearts were in dilemma while walking into her room as to how and what we were going to say to the child and family, but we were met with warm smiles which filled our hearts with ease. The atmosphere of the ward wasn’t one of sickness and worries like we expected, but the room was oozing out strength and optimism. Tarini and her mother shared their experiences with us, speaking openly about the challenges they faced and how Genesis Foundation turned their hope into reality by providing them with support when they were in need.

We were overjoyed to hear that Tarini was being discharged on the very same day we met her. It felt like a celebration, a culmination of courage, hope, and the power of collective support.

Our visit with Tarini and her mother was not just an ordinary hospital visit, but it was an encounter with resilience, a testament to human courage, and a reminder of the important work the Genesis Foundation does for child heart surgery and in transforming lives.
