In India, under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961, one can claim tax deductions and reduce their overall taxable income by donating to a registered NGO. But, to avail the tax benefits, one must have an 80G donation receipt. In this article, we have shared a generic format of an 80G donation receipt so that NGOs know what to include in the receipt and donors know what to check for.
What is an 80G Donation Receipt?
80G Donation receipt is a document that serves as proof of a charitable contribution made by an individual or organisation. It is issued by NGOs registered under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. It allows donors to claim tax deductions on their contributions by serving as valid proof of donation. This document not only ensures transparency but also strengthens donor trust and compliance with tax regulations.
