I was driven by a desire to spread happiness and make a positive difference in the lives of those around me. I was born in Jammu and raised in Muscat, Oman, where I completed my schooling. My journey in medicine truly began when I moved to Pune for my studies. Immersed in the world of medicine, I discovered not only a deep commitment to the field but also a profound love for what we achieve through medicine. Children have always held a special place in my heart, and by the time I reached my final year of MBBS, I was certain that paediatrics was my true calling.<\/p>\n<p>After earning my MBBS degree, I pursued my specialization in Paediatrics. The long hours caring for newborns, infants, and children in wards and ICUs gave me a deep sense of fulfilment and reaffirmed my choice of paediatrics. During my MD training, I was introduced to the extraordinary super-specialty of Paediatric Cardiology &#8211; a field that instantly captivated me and continues to inspire my professional journey.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, I embarked on my training in Paediatric Cardiology at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore. It was more than just a training centre; it shaped me both personally and professionally. I was fortunate to learn from outstanding physicians whose dedication to their patients and commitment to advancing paediatric cardiology left a lasting impression on me. I am deeply grateful to Dr. P.V. Suresh, Dr. Shreesha Maiya, and Dr. Satheesh, whose mentorship and clinical brilliance continue to inspire me. Their guidance not only shaped my knowledge but also strengthened my desire to provide the same level of care to children in my home state.<\/p>\n<p>My commitment to diagnosing, treating, and improving outcomes for children with congenital heart disease (CHD) led me to pursue advanced training in Fetal Cardiology under the guidance of Dr. Balu Vaidyanathan at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. My time at Amrita expanded my knowledge even further as &#8211; it revealed a whole new dimension of paediatric cardiology. It underscored the critical role of fetal diagnosis, prenatal counselling, and most importantly, the need for planned deliveries at specialized cardiac centres. I was also privileged to be a part of the exceptional Paediatric Cardiology team led by Dr. Krishna Kumar, whose unwavering dedication to both medical and financial aspects of patient care deeply inspired me and left a profound impact on my journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"img-float-left max-width-desktop-300\" style=\"text-align: center; margin-top: 5px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignleft\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Picture2.png\" alt=\"The Healers Journal: From Childhood Calling to Pediatric Cardiology\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After years of training and working alongside some of the most dedicated paediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in India, I\u2019ve come to believe that every step of my path has been guided by a larger purpose: to give back to society and to serve those who need it most. This conviction led me to begin my career in paediatric cardiology at the Paediatric Cardiac Unit of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.genesis-foundation.net\/hospital-partners\">Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Jaipur<\/a>, under the leadership of Dr. Sunil Kumar Kaushal. Dr. Kaushal exemplifies the same values and dedication I\u2019ve admired in all my mentors. For over 25 years, he has selflessly served infants with CHD across the state. Together, we share a common mission &#8211; to create meaningful change in Rajasthan by saving the lives of foetuses and newborns affected by congenital heart disease. But Rajasthan faces economic challenges and limited healthcare funding. To overcome these obstacles, we reached out to Genesis Foundation, an NGO for child heart surgery. Genesis Foundation, an <a href=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\">NGO for heart treatment in India<\/a>, shares our mission to ensure that no child in India dies from congenital heart defects due to financial constraints. Their support is a guiding light in helping us achieve our vision for babies in Rajasthan.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of my journey is the constant support of my family, especially my father. His guidance and the values he instilled in me have shaped every step of my path. Moreover, I feel incredibly blessed to have married a doctor (surgeon) whose humility is as profound as his accomplishments further motivating me in my vision. I believe that when intentions are pure, they draw like-minded souls.
