While the left atrium receives oxygenated blood pumped in from the lungs, the right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u2022 Ventricles:<\/b> The two lower chambers of the heart are known as the ventricles and they receive blood from the atria. The right ventricle pushes the deoxygenated blood from the right atrium via an artery to the lungs for oxygenation, while the left ventricle receives oxygenated blood and pushes it out into the entire body via blood vessels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u2022 Septum:<\/b> The septum is a strong muscular wall that separates the right and left chambers of the heart from each other, so that oxygenated and deoxygenated blood do not mix with each other.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u2022 Valves:<\/b> There are four valves that separate parts of the heart from one another.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">a. Mitral valve: Separates the left atrium and the left ventricle<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">b. Tricuspid valve: Separates the right atrium and the right ventricle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">c. Aortic valve: Lies between the left ventricle and the aorta, which connects to the body\u2019s network of blood vessels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">d. Pulmonary valve: Found between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery, which goes to the lungs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u2022 Aorta:<\/b> The main artery in the human body which distributes blood to the whole body and is connected to the left ventricle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u2022 Pulmonary artery:<\/b> Is the artery that carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs from the right ventricle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here\u2019s a list of the most common Congenital Heart Defects, to put into perspective the multiple types of CHDs that can occur in children, and have occurred in the cases we have supported.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<style>\n p>img{}<\/p>\n<\/style>\n<div class=\"story-col-12 ngh\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"ltbx\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"width: inherit;\" src=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/heart-child-1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rtbx\">\n<p><b>Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)<\/b> is a term that crops up frequently. It is a hole in between the upper chambers of the hearts, which allows oxygen rich blood to enter the oxygen deficient chamber.<\/p>\n<p><em>Our little, Kaustubh Sawant suffered from ASD<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12 ngh1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"ltbx\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"width: inherit;\" src=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/heart-child-2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rtbx\">\n<p><b>Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)<\/b> is a hole between the lower chambers of the heart.<\/p>\n<p><em>Our little, Avani Jaiswar suffered from VSD<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12 ngh\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"ltbx\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"width: inherit;\" src=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/heart-child-3.png\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rtbx\">\n<p><b>Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)<\/b> is an abnormal connection between the ascending aorta and the pulmonary artery.<\/p>\n<p><em>We financially supported treatment for Arushi Vinod Valvi who was treated for her PDA <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12 ngh1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"ltbx\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"width: inherit;\" src=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/heart-child-9.png\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rtbx\">\n<p><b>Transposition of the great arteries (TGA)<\/b> occurs when the two main blood vessels of the heart, the aorta and pulmonary artery arise from the wrong chambers i.e. their positions get switched.<\/p>\n<p><em>Newborn, and not even named &#8211;
