{"id":274,"date":"2018-08-16T04:26:18","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T04:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/?p=274"},"modified":"2021-11-11T05:47:44","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T05:47:44","slug":"an-inspiring-visit-to-amrita-institute-kochi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/an-inspiring-visit-to-amrita-institute-kochi\/","title":{"rendered":"An inspiring visit to Amrita Institute, Kochi"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"story-col-12\">\n<div class=\"story-col-12\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I joined Genesis Foundation in 2015 and since then have worked in multiple profiles like administration, accounts, event management etc. From September 2017, I have been working with the HOPE team (the one that handles all kid-related things) and I feel fulfilled carrying out this role.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meeting with the kids who are getting treatment via Genesis Foundation, I manage to connect with their family members to understand their financial conditions and their needs. Meeting with doctors, helps us gain a better understanding of Congenital Heart Defects (CHD), and receive a holistic picture of the scenario. This further helped us to convince other hospitals to tie up with our foundation in our mission to save little hearts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My first visit to Amrita Hospital in Kochi was a wonderful experience and it was really nice to have an opportunity to meet doctors who I had only conversed via telephone with before.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the first day of my visit, I got a chance to meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.genesis-foundation.net\/medical-board-profiles\/dr-v-mohan-reddy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Dr Mohan Reddy<\/a>, who is also on our medical board. Based in the US, Dr Reddy, comes each year for one week to see to complex cases that require his intervention. The passion he displayed towards his work was an inspiration for me. I also had the opportunity to interact with the entire pediatric cardiac team of Amrita Institute, as well as some of the children who were supported by GF.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the second day, we went to the Believer\u2019s Church Medical College in Tiruvalluvar, around 125 km from Kochi, to meet with Dr Suresh. The meeting was set up in order discuss a possibility for a collaborative effort between GF and the hospital for congenital heart defect treatment for children who may not have the resources to afford this treatment. We were shown around the hospital, and their infrastructure and facilities were at par with the best hospitals and were impressed with their meticulous arrangements within the hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: inherit;\" src=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/amit-blog-img-2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The third day was spent in Trichy and Tanjore attending medical camps. The Tanjore camp had been organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.genesis-foundation.net\/medical-board-profiles\/dr-krishna-kumar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Dr Krishna Kumar<\/a>, and 112 children were registered to be examined. The event was so well organised and was a pleasure to be a part of. The doctors at Tanjore even attended a special CME class hosted by Dr Krishna Kumar on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Even the Tanjore collector attended the camp and praised Genesis Foundation\u2019s involvement in providing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.genesis-foundation.net\/about-congenital-heart-defects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> congenital heart defect treatment<\/a> to children in need.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: inherit;\" src=\"https:\/\/genesis-foundation.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/amit-blog-img-3.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of my observations from my visit was that the south of India showed a greater awareness with regard to CHD, and heart disease in general as well. This is perhaps because people are more regular with their check-ups, and also disseminate this information to people around them so more people are impacted by these medical camps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"story-col-12\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I would also like to put on record my sincere gratitude to Dr Krishna Kumar, whose dedication and involvement is truly an inspiration to our foundation, and I am grateful that someone as hard-working as him is associated with us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My visit to Amrita Institute, and its accompanying camps was a wonderful experience that has left me enriched, and I hope to come again to once more feel and be a part of the dedication and passion they show towards their work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I joined Genesis Foundation in 2015 and since then have worked in multiple profiles like administration, accounts, event management etc. From September 2017, I have been working with the HOPE team (the one that handles all kid-related things) and I feel fulfilled carrying out this role.
