As someone who has grown up around Genesis foundation, an NGO for child heart surgery, I can say that everything said about it is true. It truly is a selfless, significant and thoughtful NGO which truly cares about the welfare of children with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). My grandparents Jyoti and Prema Sagar founded it, and they are truly an inspiration to not just me but the whole world. They set an example that we should take a loss and convert it into something that is a step to solving national and global problems. By being very close to them, every day they teach me how to be resilient and that you can do anything you put your mind to. I grew up in their offices, running from wall to wall, closely observing everything everyone was doing and attempted to do the same. My mother, Simran Sagar, is the Operations Director of Genesis foundation and I always love to watch her in action. Whether it is managing her team who truly is amazing, meticulously drafting emails or spreadsheets, or whether it is in a meeting, it is spectacular to watch. Everyone collaborates with each other and puts the children first no matter what. They are willing to do anything to make sure everyone receives the equal amount of attention they deserve. Though it gets difficult, the whole team works through any obstacles with a radiant smile.

Outside of work, I see my Nana and Nani (grandpa and grandma) helping humanity in every way they can. They organise lunches for those who have been through the unfortunate, they visit differently abled people and set up activities to unleash their hidden creativity and talent! Once, they made cards which were so beautiful, we all kept a few! If I had to describe Genesis foundation to someone who’s never heard of it, I would describe it as compassionate, kind, noble and devoted! They will take care of the kids with CHD no matter what, they will relentlessly find a solution for the kids, and they will portray a smile while doing it!

That is why, if anyone asked me, I would say it is the best NGO in Haryana! Everyone there truly wants to make a difference. They work so hard to give children with heart defects a chance at a happy, healthy life, and that is something really special.
