Jyoti Sagar

Jyoti Sagar has been practicing law since 1976. He founded a Corporate Commercial practice – J. Sagar Associates (JSA) – in Delhi in 1991 as a solo practitioner. JSA is now a national firm with over 300 professionals in seven offices across India. Jyoti also founded K&S Partners, an Intellectual Property boutique in 1994, which now has over 115 professionals in five offices and is a leading IP practice.

He has pioneered a new paradigm in Indian law firm organisations and management structures. Both JSA and K&S have features, which are unique to Indian law firms – a ‘no family’ rule; admittance to partnership without goodwill buy-in; retirement age for partners; innovative partner compensation mechanisms; and shared vision, mission & core values.

Jyoti is Associate President, Society of Indian Law Firms; and Past President of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (Indian Group).

He is also Chairman – Society for Urban Regeneration of Gurgaon; Trustee – Genesis Foundation; and he also supports Deepalaya, which engages in educating slum children in the NCR. He is member of the Governing Council of Common Cause – a civil society organization; and also serves on the Board of Governors for The Scindia School, Gwalior.

Jyoti is a B.A (Economics Honors) from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi and Bachelor of Laws. He has attended the Mergers & Acquisitions program at the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.

He has an eye for photography, and enjoys travel and spending time with his grand children.
