Given below are details of some of the children whose lives GF has saved in each of the areas we deal with: heart, severe deformities, cancer, thalassemia and organ transplant:
Heart:

Devika at 2 days old was found abandoned near Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. She was taken to a home and over the next few years it was found that she had a severe respiratory problem. At the age of 3 years she was diagnosed as suffering from a congenital heart deformity and needed immediate surgery. GF contributed Rs.160,000(USD 3,200) towards the surgery which took place at Batra Hospital. Today Devika is fully recovered due to this timely surgery.

She has been supported by GF since 2004 and has been treated at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre where she has undergone a series of operations to her spine. She was unable to stand without support and had been given a baby walker to make her mobile.GF undertook her surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in July 2009, the cost of her surgery was Rs.220,000 (USD 4400). Anila will require further surgery over the next few years and will continue to be supported by GF.

Manisha is one of 3 children. Her father is a rickshaw driver from Sonepat and had depleted all his saving on medical expenses for Manish’s illness prior to coming to Delhi. In December 2004 she was brought to AIIMS hospital, Delhi where it was confirmed that she was suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Manisha underwent extensive chemotherapy for several months, the doctors then decided that she needed bone marrow transplant. This was undertaken in Sept 2006. GF supported her entire treatment which was over Rs.450,000 (USD 9000). She is today fully recovered but requires to come to Delhi every 6 months.
