Love on the Brink is a play directed by Lillete Dubey and is being premiered by Genesis Foundation on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Epicentre, Apparel House, Gurgaon. The proceeds from this event will go towards the support of the following children.

Thalassemia

Naitik Sharma is a 14 month old boy and has been diagnosed as a Thalassemia Major from the time he was 9 months old. He has been under going regular blood transfusions once every 15 days and is soon to start the painful iron chelation treatment.

The doctors have advised bone marrow transplant, which fortunately is possible as his 5 year old sibling Garvit is a perfect match.  Naitik’s father works in a small shop repairing computers and earns Rs. 5000/- per month. The little boy has just started walking and has learnt to say Namaste to everyone he meets. His BMT has been fixed for end August 2010 at Gangaram Hospital. The estimated cost of transplant is Rs. 10,00,000/-.

Cardiac Disorder

Chotu Rathod is a 3 year old suffering from a hole in the heart (TOF) since birth. The boy also has a cleft lip because of which his speech is not clear. Chotu requires two surgeries, one to correct his heart condition and the second to rectify his cleft. The family is from Agra, Chotu’s father does embroidery work from his house and earns about Rs. 3000/- per month. Chotu’s open heart surgery at Max Heart Institute, Saket will cost Rs.1,40,000/-

Mannat is a 2 month baby who needs immediate heart surgery as she is suffering from a congenital heart disease. Her oxygen level was very low and surgery had to be undertaken immediately.

Mannat’s father has a small provision store in Patna and earns Rs.  4000/- per month. Doctors at Medanta Medicity had sought the Foundation’s help as the family was falling short of Rs.1,00,000/- for her surgery. The baby has already undergone surgery on 2nd of Aug 2010 upon assurance by the Foundation that Mannat’s case will be supported by us. She is presently in ICU and is well on the way to recovery.
