Kids for Support – 6th CEO Chefs Share a Smile Lunch

Proceeds from the CEO Chefs Share-a-Smile Lunch fundraiser will give 4 children the chance to live.

Naitik Sharma, 14 months, was diagnosed as a Thalassemia Major when he was just 9 months old. He has undergone blood transfusions every 15 days since then. Naitik’s father works in a small shop repairing computers and earns approx Rs. 5000- p.m. The doctors have recommended Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). Fortunately for him Garvit, his 5-year-old sibling is a perfect match for the BMT. This surgery has been confirmed for end-August 2010. The estimated cost of transplant is Rs. 10,00,000.

Ansh, 4 yrs, suffers from Retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye). He underwent surgery for removal of his eye on August 23, 2010. Later this month a second surgery will provide him a glass eye that will help him look like a normal child once again. The expenditure incurred so far has been Rs. 25,000. Genesis Foundation will continue to support the chemotherapy sessions, which he will require over the next few years. The additional estimated cost per year is Rs.100,000.

Vinod Narayan, 16 yrs, suffers from a Neuromuscular Kypho Scoliosis deformity. He is studying in class VIII and is very keen to lead as normal a life as possible. Vinod’s father is a labourer at a construction site and earns Rs. 2,500 p.m. and he has 2 other children to support. Vinod has already undergone 2 corrective surgeries and is now due for his third surgery of post stabilization at 3 levels of C-splint C4-5 corpectomy and instrumentation. The cost of surgery is Rs.1,50,000.

Sumit, 4 years, has a congenital heart disease (hole in the heart) with severe breathing problems and will need to undergo open heart surgery at AIIMS costing Rs.60,000 if his life is to be saved. His father is a daily wage labourer.
