<p style="text-align: left">At this fundraiser<strong>, </strong>for the first time Genesis Foundation brought together <strong>5 Heads of Mission</strong> and <strong>5 CEOs</strong> to cook a gourmet meal to help save the lives of 8 lesser privileged children in need of surgery for cardiac disorders, treatmentfor cancer and thalassemia. <a href="http://www.genesis-foundation.net/blog/kids-for-support-heads-of-mission-and-ceo-chefs-share-a-smile-fundraiser/.html" target="_blank">Click here </a>to read more about the children.</p>
<p>The event was organised in association with <strong>Grey Goose</strong> and  is part of Genesis Foundation’s ongoing endeavor to increase the number of children whose lives can be saved each year.</p>
<p>On this lovely winter afternoon, the beautifully decorated blue and white Petal Garden at the Crowne Plaza Today and wonderful music from a live band, were a warm welcome to the guests.</p>
<p>On arrival the Heads of Mission and CEO’s sportingly donned the chef’s hats and the Share-a-Smile aprons. Reinforced with Grey Goose cocktails, they took charge of cooking a selection of international delicacies for over 100 discerning guests, who bought seats at the event.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8_BVOsVh11Y/TyfPlOVDD9I/AAAAAAAAExE/1182UCfe2gc/s288/DSC_2776%2520Resize.JPG" alt="" width="288" height="193" />The Heads of Mission brought to the table popular food items from their homeland. <strong>H. E. Ernesto Alvarez –Ambassador, Argentina</strong> made &#8216;Locro&#8217; a classic of traditional Argentine cuisine, which is a heavy stew with lots of meats, beans and corn. The  &#8217;Flambé shrimp with orange &amp; Grand- Mariner Sauce&#8217; cooked by <strong>Mr. Stewart Beck – High Commissioner, Canada</strong> made a great impression on the guests. <strong>Deputy Chief of Mission, USA, Mr. Donald Lu&#8217;s  &#8216;</strong>California shrimp, baby spinach and basil risotto&#8217; were appreciated by all. <strong>H. E. Jorge Ayers Roza de Oliveira –Ambassador, Portugal</strong> was seen puting together &#8216;Duck rice&#8217;, one of the most popular Portuguese recipes. <strong>H. E. Freddy Svane- Ambassador, Denmark</strong> was effortlessly making  &#8217;Frikadellers&#8217; , a Danish version of meatballs.<strong> Rajeev Bakshi – VP &amp; Managing Director, Metro Cash &amp; Carry </strong>did a &#8216;Smorgasbord&#8217;  which was like a buffet of a variety of breads, hot and cold meats, cheeses, salads and relishes. <strong>P Balaji &#8211; Managing Director, Sony Ericsson</strong> prepared a delicious &#8216;Pasta with mushroom bolognaise&#8217;. All the guests enjoyed the exotic &#8216;Braised stuffed squid&#8217; made by <strong>Siraj Chaudhry – Country Head, Cargill India.</strong> And with the &#8216;Churrascaria&#8217; <strong>Amrit Kiran Singh- VP &amp; Asia Director, Brown-Forman Worldwide Ltd</strong> had the barbeque going  with giant skewers and a variety of grilled meat. <img class="alignright" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OwjWBdEDfAA/TyfEz3WEaeI/AAAAAAAAEuo/UqMIWzHTKkE/s288/DSC_2874%2520Resize.JPG" alt="" width="288" height="193" /><strong>Rajeev Vaidya – President South Asia, DuPont India</strong> was busy making  &#8216;Steak , chicken and veg burgers&#8217; which were relished by all. The various cuisines were complemented by exotic Grey Goose desserts served up by <strong>Parvathy Omanakuttan, Goodwill Ambassador, Genesis Foundation.</strong></p>
<p>During the course of the lunch some of the guests won exciting lucky dip prizes. The prizes were sponsored by Microsoft, Crowne Plaza Today, Sennheiser, Opera Wines and Bacardi India. In appreciation of their participation, the Celebrity Chefs were each presented a bottle of Grey Goose by Bacardi.</p>
<p><strong>Bacardi India – Grey Goose </strong>has been a regular supporter for Share-a-Smile events. <strong>E I DuPont India Ltd</strong><strong> </strong>supported the treatment of three of the eight children identified through a donation.  The venue support was provided by <strong>Crowne Plaza Today, Gurgaon, </strong>travel support <strong>Kingfisher Airlines</strong> and event support <strong>CRI Events</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align: left"> In our endeavour to raise funds for critically ill children we partnered with an art show titled “<strong><em>Parallel-intersections</em></strong>”  held at the India Habitat Center (New Delhi) from December 11-15, 2011. </p>
<p>Manisha Kumar and Rahul Kumar, siblings, came together for the first time to show their respective art works under one roof.</p>
<p><strong><em>Parallel-intersections</em></strong>  brought together the art of both the artists. Different media and varied sensibilities, yet siblings who grew up together; separate professional careers, along with a passion for artistic expression; paintings motivated from nature bringing together the delicate balance of man and nature using bold form of expression, ceramic art that deals with the play of opposite energies.</p>
<p>Manisha is a painter and a senior law professional. She lives and works in Mumbai. Rahul is a ceramic artist and as a profession he leads operations &amp; research for a global consulting firm. He has won the national award for his art and is a Fulbright Scholar. He lives and works in Gurgaon.</p>

<p>Children from NGOs supported by Genesis Foundation were invited for the event. A total of a 85 children between the ages of 4 to 16 years were present for the event from the following organisations, Handicapped Children’s Rehabilitation Association (HCRA), CanKids, Children of the World, Delhi Council for Child Welfare (DCCW)-Palna, The Shelter and Saambhavi.</p>
<p>Groups of cheerful and enthusiastic children arrived at the venue and by noon the park was filled with the chatter of happy children, looking forward to day filled with fun and entertainment.</p>
<p>The fun <img class="alignleft" title="Drawing competition" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gM18BUK1hUg/TsJYfKa0njI/AAAAAAAAEWE/BjKoijcK0Wo/s288/DSC02156.JPG" alt="" width="288" height="216" />filled afternoon began with an absorbing magic show and the children soon got completely involved into it. The Tattoo painting and hair braiding corner was another popular activity among the kids. The drawing competition and games organised for different age groups kept the children engrossed. They enjoyed the obstacle race thoroughly and later all the children came up with some very creative artwork. Children who participated in the various games were extremely competitive and eagerly looked forward to winning and taking home prizes.</p>

GF’s other support sponsor PepsiCo provided Tropicana fruit juice, Cheetos and Aquafina mineral water.</p>
<p>The day ended with another magic show. Finally the children walked away with beaming faces and return gifts in their hands.</p>

Grey Goose</strong> has had a long-standing commitment to social responsibility internationally, spearheading various charitable causes across the world. Taking this commitment forward in India as well, Grey Goose has, consistently, been associated with Genesis Foundation in its fund raising efforts and continued this partnership with the CEOs sing for their Supper in Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bengaluru.</p>
<p>The venue support for this event was provided by Crowne Plaza Today, Gurgaon and logistics support by CRI Events.</p>

<p>The CEO’s were provided keyboard support by Dominic. After the CEOs performance, the floor was opened to many other guests who took the mike and continued to make the evening a delightful event.<span> </span></p>
<p>It was an extremely successful evening that saw Genesis Foundation raise funds of Rs. 16, 00,000/- to support its cause.</p>

He had to undergo emergency surgery at Medanta Medicity in the first week of August 2011.  The baby was suffering from complex CHD. The approximate cost of surgery was Rs.2,50,000/-. The family is from Srinagar and the parents had arranged some amount of their own. The father is a small shop owner and brings home Rs.4000/- per month. Genesis Foundation has contributed Rs.80,000/- for this baby’s surgery. This photo was taken post-surgery and the child is recovering well.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>9 year old, Vipin Kumar, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and is being treated at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi. Vipin loves going to school &amp; is studying in class 11. Vipin’s father works as a domestic help and earns Rs.4,800/- per month. Vipin is currently undergoing his  2<sup>nd</sup> chemo cycle and has 4 more chemotherapy sessions to be done. So far Vipin has responded well to the medicines and the doctors are hopeful that Vipin will be able to lead a normal life. Genesis Foundation is supporting Vipin’s Chemotherapy and each session costs approximately Rs.20,000/-.</p>

<p>The family moved from Uttarakhand to Delhi five years back and her father works as an office help earning Rs.4,000/- per month. The father has already taken a loan from his office as well as from family and friends for her treatment. The estimated cost of treatment chemotherapy will be approximately Rs.1,50,000/-Genesis Foundation is committed to supporting all costs for her treatment.</p>
