Dr.  Krishna Kumar is presently the Clinical Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatric Cardiology at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Cochin. He did his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He then underwent fellowship training in pediatric cardiology from Children’s Hospital Boston, USA (1994-1996). His clinical focus is diverse because of the unique requirements of the population he serves. This includes echocardiography, catheter interventions and intensive care. His chief research interests relate to epidemiology of heart disease in the developing world and developing cost effective clinical strategies for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric heart disease in developing countries. He had chaired the Scientific Committee, 5th Asia Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society, New Delhi, 2014 and was the President Pediatric Cardiac Society of India, 2014. An author of 2 books, he has 149 publications to his name. His hobbies include reading non-fictions, cooking, travelling and listening to classical music (Indian & Western).
